BBC’s television coverage of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 returns from Sunday 19th May, putting a spotlight on the world-famous horticultural event.
The BBC retains its position as the exclusive broadcaster of what is known as the most prestigious gardening event in the world. But if you won’t be at RHS Chelsea in person this year (limited tickets are still available), tune in at home to enjoy the event virtually.
Coverage of the annual RHS Chelsea Flower Show will be a week-long programme across BBC One and BBC Two, highlighting all the action from the showground in SW3 and the best of this year’s garden designs and floral displays, with a focus on money-saving tips, the joys of gardening and championing sustainability.
Leading a raft of programmes across the week will be Monty Don, Sophie Raworth, Joe Swift, Angellica Bell and Nicki Chapman. There will be special daily programming straight from the showground, as well as live commentary and advice from a team of experts.
This year’s themes are: the greenest Chelsea ever, proving that great design and sustainability can go hand in hand, using water wisely, the joy of gardens, and how to attract a younger, more diverse audience to gardening.
Who is presenting?
Gardeners’ World stars Monty Don and Joe Swift, newsreader Sophie Raworth, RHS Chelsea regular Nicki Chapman and TV presenter Angellica Bell will lead Chelsea coverage throughout the week across BBC One and BBC Two.
‘I’m honoured to have been asked back to this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show,’ says Monty. ‘I look forward to chatting to members of the public about their green spaces and giving tips to transform their outdoor areas.’
There will be input and advice from Chelsea Flower Show’s much-admired gardening experts too. The confirmed line-up includes: Adam Frost, Rachel de Thame, Arit Anderson, Carol Klein, Mark Lane, Toby Buckland, James Wong, Sue Kent, Nick Bailey and Frances Tophill.

Once again we’ll also see guest appearances from Mary Berry, JJ Chalmers and Chris Bavin, who will be sharing their passion for gardening and all things RHS Chelsea.

Anyone unable to visit RHS Chelsea in person this year can watch all the highlights across BBC One and BBC Two
There will also be some special programming on The One Show as Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas visit Chelsea for some of its best highlights and to reveal the winner of the first Pocket Garden Makeover Prize, a new collaboration between The One Show and The RHS.

Launch show, Sunday 19th May, 6.15-7.15pm, BBC One
The Sunday evening show will be a one-hour launch programme with Sophie and Joe. In the countdown to Chelsea they will be taking an exclusive first look at all the fabulous gardens and exhibits set to make headlines at this year’s show.

Weekday afternoon show, starting Monday 20th May – Friday 24th May, 3.45pm-4.45pm, BBC One
Capturing all of the buzz of the opening day, the week-long daytime series hosted by Nicki and Angellica will feature celebrity guests, live demos, a variety of exciting features and lots of take-home ideas, including money-saving tips to get the best from your garden. Nicki and Angellica will also be looking at the overarching theme of gardening going mainstream, breaking down the barriers to gardening, understanding our changing gardens and feeling good in your garden.

Weekday evening show, starting Monday 20th May – Friday 24th May, 8-9pm, BBC Two
Monty and Joe will kick off the evening coverage on BBC Two. They’ll meet the VIP guests, with Chelsea’s team of experts reviewing the show-stopping gardens and magnificent floral exhibitions. Back again for another year due to popular demand, viewers can get involved from home with the ‘Ask Monty & Joe’ segment by submitting gardening questions, from general advice to troubleshooting.

Wednesday 22nd May, 7-7.30pm, BBC One
Sophie and Joe launch the highly coveted BBC RHS People’s Choice Award, as they run down the Show Gardens in contention for the annual public vote.
Friday 26th May, 7.30-8pm, BBC One
Sophie and Joe return to announce the winner of the People’s Choice Award. Then switch over to BBC Two from 8-9pm where Monty and Joe continue the show with a look at the winning garden.
Saturday 25th May, 8-9pm, BBC Two
Monty and Joe will present a highlights show looking back at the very best of RHS Chelsea.
Sunday 26th May, 6-7pm, BBC One
And just like that, RHS Chelsea is over for another year. Sophie and Joe look back on all the best bits from the world-famous flower show in a 60-minute recap.
