Get your hands in the dirt after a long winter season as Rochester Public Market’s annual springtime plant sale is again underway.
For the next three Sundays, hundreds of gardeners will flock to Flower City Days at the Market, at the Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St., a gardener’s paradise of a sale held at the market each spring.
The horticultural sale will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on on Sundays through the end of May – May 12, May 19 and May 26 and will also operate on Friday, May 25 and Monday, May 27, over Memorial Day weekend.
The event features hundreds of vendors selling gardening essentials, including perennials and annuals, hanging baskets and potted plants, wide assortments of succulents, herbs and vegetables, along with a unique outdoor art, decorations and other garden accessories.
Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County will be on hand to offer expert gardening advice.
Some traditional market vendors will also be open in the B shed, as will some small businesses located in the Market District.
Flower City Days at the Market hosts a “give and take container exchange” outside the market office, where gardeners may donate or retrieve gently used flower or plant pots, flats and other containers.
