Starting A Vegetable Garden
The best vegetable gardens combine sunlight, water, soil, fertilizer and care. They also use a diverse selection of vegetables to meet the needs of each family member’s taste and budget.
Start small, and only plant what you know you’ll eat and like to eat. Vegetables that grow quickly and easily, such as salad greens and tomatoes, are good choices for beginners.
The Haddonfield Garden Club will meet at noon on Tuesday, March 14, at Haddonfield’s Lutheran Church of Our Savior to discuss the topic of vegetable gardening. The speaker will be Toni Farmer, who will address the group at 12:30 p.m. She has a master’s in environmental studies from the University of Pennsylvania and has 30 years of experience growing and cooking from the backyard.
Non-club participants are welcome to the free event, but all guests are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the church pantry. Learn more at www.haddonfieldgardenclub.com.
