Has the rainy spring weather brought an abundance of blooms to your garden this year? Has the warm weather caused your flowers to put on a show? The Crawfordsville Seed Library invites you to share your beauties in their annual Garden Flower Contest, kicking off Sunday.
Entries to the show will be accepted 2-4 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to noon Monday. Independent judging will follow. Rosette ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category. Two People’s Choice Awards will be given and chosen by the general public.
Entries will be on display at the library from Monday through June 23, giving you a whole week to admire the beautiful creations of our community members. You may also vote for the People’s Choice award at that time.
This year, the contest has added a new category: Floral Centerpiece. The other categories are Tropical/Succulents and individual Cut Flower Stems. The Cut Flower Stems will showcase three different classes: Single Bloom, Cluster/Spike Bloom and Stalk with Multiple Blooms.
A $2 per entry fee will be collected to participate in the contest. Your contribution will be used to purchase additional native seeds for the free seed library on the second floor, enriching our community’s biodiversity. The seed library has more than 200 varieties of seeds for the public to select and grow. It is maintained by the Master Gardeners of Montgomery County and CDPL.
