Homesteading is a lifestyle where you live on your own land. It’s a great way to reduce your dependence on stores and companies, which can help you save money.
Homesteading is also a fantastic way to learn new skills and become more self-sufficient. Learning how to grow your own food, make your own energy, and raise livestock are just a few of the things that will set you on a path toward living the self-reliant life you’ve always wanted.

GREENWICH, N.Y. — The first annual Southern Adirondack Homesteading Festival will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Greenwich, NY, May 19th – 21st, 2023.
The festival will feature keynote speaker Pork Rhyne “The Pork Evangelist,” an international livestock educator and farm marketing coach. He has been featured in Homesteaders of America, ABC’s Localish, and PBS’s Resilient Agriculture. Pork Rhyne has trained over 5,000 full-time farmers and homesteaders in scaling profitable farm enterprises by helping them overcome their fears of pricing and marketing their story. He is passionate about developing farmers as servant leaders on their farm, in their home, and within their community.
This multi-day event will begin with self-guided tours throughout Washington County on Friday as participants arrive in the area. Saturday and Sunday are filled with classes and hands-on workshops. Each day participants can select from a diverse set of classes on two different tracks beginner and advanced, including beekeeping, mushroom farming, meat rabbits, gardening, grains, and pruning. As well as hands-on workshops, including soap making, butter making, cheese making, and poultry processing.
