There are many different types of flowers and you can find them in a variety of colors. Some of the most popular are rose, tulip, lily and calla lily.
Planting them in the spring or fall can add a special touch to your garden. If you want to get the most out of your plants, make sure they are planted in a well-draining soil and receive plenty of sun.
Carolyn E. Reed, 93, of Hughesville, died Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.
Born Jan. 12, 1930, in Muncy Valley, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Edna (Keeler) Houseknecht. Carolyn married Leonard S. Reed on March 28, 1952, and shared 67 years of marriage. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a sewing machine operator at Ralda Manufacturing of Hughesville. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsdale. Carolyn enjoyed sewing and loved the outdoors, especially flower gardening and hunting.
Carolyn is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, James (Mary) Reed, of Hughesville; and Walt (Vicki) Reed, of Hughesville.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by husband, Leonard, on Feb. 15, 2020; three sisters, Evelyn Chestnut, Lois Holmes, Velma Robbins; and four brothers, Robert Houseknecht, Lewis Houseknecht, George Houseknecht, Jason Worthington; and brothers-in-law, Samuel Reed and John Reed.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with her nephews Rev. David Reed and Perry Reed officiating. A visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, at the convenience of the family.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, Pennsdale, PA 17756.
