Homesteading is a way of life where you learn to provide yourself with the things you need for your daily living. It means learning to grow, preserve and care for food, animals and tools.
It can be difficult to know where to start when you are new to the homesteading lifestyle. However, starting small is key.
A Kings Mountain homesteading couple is offering a unique workshop that will result in participants leaving with an unusual gift.
The beginner chick care workshop is the first local one of its kind, and Dale and Meghan Riviere are offering a free chick to each person who registers.
With the price of eggs sky high, they decided now would be the time to teach people to raise their own flocks and be a little more self-sufficient.
“Eggs are so expensive, for people interested in starting in a backyard flock of egg layers, now is the time,” said Meghan Riviere.
